Description

The Institute of the Moving Image of the University of St La Salle together with the College of St Benilde and thru the endorsement of Br. Kenneth S. Martinez, will be presenting to the community a documentary ALON, directed by Gabriel Fernandez and produced by the College of St. Benilde. ALON aims to create awareness on the problem of plastic waste and pollution. The documentary features surf camps here in the Philippines, information about the plastic problem alongside possible solutions. The surf camps that are featured are the ones from Siargao, San Juan (La Union), Baler, Mati (Davao), Gubat (Sorsogon) and Sabang Daguitan (Leyte). These camps are communities that experience the problem and effects of plastic waste. The documentary also presents facts and figures about the plastic problem in both global and local contexts. The data and articles are from different organizations who advocates against plastic waste like Greenpeace, WWF and Break Free from Plastic.
